Bury St Edmunds to Manchester Airport: distance, timings, and what to expect

One of our longer cross-country runs, Manchester is well outside the usual airport-transfer radius for Suffolk, but a route we cover for the right journey.

How far is it?

By road, Manchester Airport is around 200 miles from Bury St Edmunds. Driving takes roughly 3 hours 15 minutes via the A14, M1 and M6.

Your options for getting there

• Train — around 4.5–6 hours, with at least one change, usually via London or Peterborough.
• Coach/bus — 8 hours or more including connections.
• Driving yourself — around 3 hours 15 minutes, a long day either side of a flight.
• Private hire transfer — around 3 hours 15 minutes, with a driver who's done the distance and knows the route.
